Punta del Este is one of the most famous and glamorous resorts in South America. It is located 130 km to the east of Montevideo (capital of Uruguay), at the meeting of the Rio de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean. It is surrounded bybeaches called “Brava” and “Mansa”. You can find elegant beach mansions, high rise condos and all kinds of restaurants: French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, fast food and grill (typical Uruguayan food).
In summer, it is popular among Argentines, Brazilians and Uruguayans, being the most upscale resort in southern South America. In winter, it is very often host to international congresses and conferences.
The city is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the natural and architectural beauties.
Punta del Este has 40 kilometers of beaches.
How to Get to Punta del Este?
Arriving in Punta del Este by air: you must search flights arriving to Montevideo (MVD) (International Airport Carrasco). The Airport is outside Montevideo city towards the East, on the same route to Punta del Este, only 120 kms away (hour and a half road trip). Only a few regional Airlines and private jets arrive to Punta del Este Airport (called Capitán Curbelo) 20 minutes away from the hotels area: Aerolíneas Argentinas, Gol, JetSmart from Buenos Aires, San Pablo or Porto Alegre
Airlines arriving into Montevideo International Airport: Aerolíneas Argentinas, Aeromás, Air Class, Air France, American Airlines, Avianca, Azul, Copa, Delta, Gol, Iberia, JetSmart, Latam, Paranair, Sky arrive with direct flights, others such as Lufthansa, Emirates, Alitalia, Malaysian, Aeromexico arrive with connections through Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Santiago or Lima.
Some of these flights arrive into Montevideo Airport on daily basis nonstop flights: From Central America through Panama hub 3 daily direct 7 hrs flights to Montevideo; AVIANCA from Bogota also direct daily flights nonstop in 6 hs and a half. Montevideo is centrally located within the region at only two hours from Sao Paulo, Asunción, Santiago, 4 hs from Lima, 8 hs from Miami via American, COPA or LATAM.
Nonstop daily flights from Europe: Air Europa and Iberia with daily direct flights, other Airlines with connections through Sao Paulo, Santiago, Buenos Aires or Panama, with Emirates, Alitalia, Lufthansa, Air France, Delta, Aeroméxico, Malaysian Airlines, Ethiopian, amongst other airlines. You can check airlines to Uruguay (Montevideo – MVD) through sites such as www.expedia.com.es, www.kayak.com.uy or others.
Transfers from Airport to Punta del Este: If you arrive to Montevideo Airport and wish to hire “shared basis” or private transfer to Punta del Este, you may send an email to transfersovum2024@gmail.com telling us your date and time of arrival as well as airline and flight number, or through the on-line registrations site. These transfers have a promotional cost for attendees coordinated by the Organization with a flat rate of US$ 195 cost for return trip to and from Montevideo and Punta del Este and return trip, transfers in shared basis by car (remise), van or bus. This service and special rate will run from two days prior to the OVUM starts until closing date (i.e. from 7th to 17th November). For those arriving or departing apart from those dates we will be able to coordinate their transfers if so wish. We will also be coordinating transfers from Punta del Este Airport to hotels. Ferry from Buenos Aires: You may also arrive from Buenos Aires to Montevideo and then to Punta del Este through ferry service (www.buquebus.com ) with several services during the day either ferry Buenos Aires to Colonia (45’ ) and then 2hs bus to Montevideo bus terminal or direct ferry Buenos Aires to Montevideo port (3 hs). From the bus terminal you may take a regular service bus to Punta del Este departing every hour which also passes by the Airport.

About Punta del Este
There are two islands close to the shore: Gorriti Island, with a forest of acacias, pine trees and eucaliptus and Sea Lions’ Island which is a nature preserve. Both can be visited throughout the year but excursions are always subject to weather and sea conditions.
Casapueblo: Located in Punta Ballena it is one of the most emblematic constructions of the country. It is the work of famous Uruguayan artist Carlos PáezVilaró, every sunset becomes a mystical ceremony in this site.
Punta Ballena: Only a few kilometers away from Punta del Este, this peninsula is a natural viewpoint to enjoy a breathtaking view.
La Barra: 10 km away from the peninsula connected by the undulating bridges across the Arroyo Maldonado, this place has unique style and architecture as well as natural beauties.
